History

History of the Institute

Government Industrial Training Institute, functioning under Department of Employment & Training, popularly known as “ITI, Kadri” initially started training activities in Pandeshwara & subsequently shifted to Karnataka (Government) polytechnic premises during the year 1958. The foundation stone for its own building was laid on 11-12-1958 by the Former Honorable Chief Minister of Mysore Mr. B.D. Jatti. The inception of craftsmen training was started in its own building during 1960, to cater to the needs of Industrial requirements and to equip the youth with suitable skills for self-employment.

The infrastructural facilities and Excellency in imparting training paved the way to upgrade the Institution as Grade-I Institute, in the year 1998.

The centre of excellence (Automobile sector) training scheme has been introduced during 2006-07 session. Further, the new trades namely Architectural Assistant, Mechanic Computer Hardware, Mechanic Auto Electrical and Electronics trades were included during 2007-08.

Presently, the Institute imparts industrial training in 12 different trades with a sanctioned strength of 730 trainees. Besides, Craftsmen Training, the Institute also provides Motor Driving Training in Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) as per the rules and regulations framed as under the Government Order. The Institute is also identified as Vocational Training Provider (VTP) to implement Modular Employable Skills (MES) training Programme. The Institute recognized as Nodal Institute of the District to enact Apprentice Training Scheme (ATS) under the Apprenticeship Act 1961. Altogether, 313 establishments have fulfilled criteria as laid by the apprenticeship Act and implemented apprenticeship training programme to uplift the skill level of ITI graduates by facilitating on the job training in the industries.

Besides providing qualitative training, the Institute also encourages for versatile development of an individual trainee by organising sports, Grames, other Cultural activities and Social activities through N.S.S.

The Institute comprising of well equipped workshops and skillful, dedicated trainers who are committed to mound the youth through Excellency oriented training.
